I hold a PhD in Political Science and teach International Political Economy at the University at Buffalo. In my research I use data to analyze international political economy, including policies of trade, financial aid, sanctions and conflict intervention. A current project consider variation in government policy toward digital assets. My dissertation analyzes policy positions on international trade and foreign aid in the European Parliament, using voting record analysis, surveys and face-to-face interviews to understand policymakers’ behavior. My scholarly work has been published in highly ranked journals including International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Peace Research and European Union Politics. A native of Sweden, I was awarded a Fulbright scholarship in 2015 to pursue doctoral studies in the US. Prior to this I worked as political adviser and speech writer for Sweden’s Minister of Defense (2012-2014) and was a Fellow at Stockholm-based think tank Frivärld. I was a trainee for the European Economic and Social Committee (2010-2011) and and Intern with Sweden’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2009), which spurred my interest to gain advanced research skills.
